The Glorious Power of the Tithe 02 Devoured and Destroyed

Rare, midsize black hole caught devouring a star | Science | AAAS

I do prefer living in the New Testament, don’t you? I do love that I do not have to bring a pigeon to church – or a goat or cow. I’m glad I have access to the throne of God all by myself and don’t need to tie ropes around a high priest and send him in for me!

I am really glad that I am redeemed from the curse of the law, and that I am not under a curse when I sin. I am glad I am not under a curse when I sin by not tithing!

But because we are not under a curse when we fail to tithe, many Christians strangely throw the following verses under a bus, rather than read them carefully. Malachi 3.8-10 KJV:

Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.

Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.

10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

Now we know that we are not cursed by God for not robbing Him, but not tithing is STILL ROBBING GOD. You are still a GOD ROBBER.

  • You are not cursed in the New Testament for robbing a bank, but you are still a bank robber.
  • You are not cursed in the New Testament for robbing a house, but you are still a house robber.
  • You are not cursed in the New Testament for not tithing, but you are still a God robber.

And if you sin, you are vulnerable to satan. One of the benefits of tithing is that God will “rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground” (Malachi 3.11). In other words, failing to tithe opens the door for satan – not God – to devour and destroy you!

I don’t want to be satan’s lunch, I don’t want to be destroyed. I don’t want to give satan any place in my life, so I tithe. Not out of fear, not out of guilt, but because I understand spiritual principles!

The Hebrew word for devour is akal (awkal) and means to eat up or burn up. I don’t want to give the devil space to eat my stuff or burn my harvest!

The Hebrew word for destroy is sahat (shawkhath) and it means to decay or be spoiled. I don’t want my new car spoiled, I don’t want my new carpet spoiled, I don’t want my investments spoiled, I don’t want my clothes spoiled. I do not want to give the devil that kind of space in my life!

So I tithe. And I encourage you to tithe as well. It’s amazing that you tithing can actually stop satan moving against you! What a deal!

  1. Thank you pastor Ben for this thoughts!
Also some say O, is not written in the New testament for tithe 10 percent.. I am gonna ask them : in the old testament is written to not still and kill , is not valid is the new testament this, because is new Testament?
Jesus did 100 percent the law from the old testament and only by faith in Jesus we have access to the throne of Hevanly Father yes, but the tithe and offering still is workable system. As you sayed to the top with the scripture – if we not giving the tithe, we still from God….to not to be.
Me and my family have this key understanding and 100 percent we are agree with you . My testimony in this area is so powerful for me.
11 years ago I start in construction site as a Labourer who didn’t knowed nothing, absolutely nothing from construction industry. Our tithe and offering we followed with my wife Mariya strictly with pleasure in the small amount. And 10 years after God bless us with knolege, education, courses, certificates for now to be Project Menager or Site Manager to running construction site and to manage all traders with God grace . So now we are such a blessed and we continue with pleasure to follow tithe and offering and all Glory to be for Jesus, all glory for this Mighty God who took me from the nothing and bless us, because the principles for giving is so powerful and life in our life. I thank you pastor Ben for your heart to service to the Lord, you have so powerful testimony which we listening about the giving. 2. Thank you so much for this message pastor Ben.

Tithing is not only giving, tithing is a relationship with God. When we tithe we should not look around to see if anyone is watching on us, but our focus should be on God.
Tithing for me is an expression of gratitude to my Father for who He is. Tithing is how we live our lives – in selfishness or in love. And when we tithe we actually saying : “Thank you Lord for your covenant “. Tithing is a way of living. It’s a way to say :” I love you Father and I am thankful for what you have done in my life. I will always be thankful.”

    With respect
    Mariya
