This Sunday, August 23rd, we are experiencing the joy of two baptisms! We don’t have the facilities to do this either in our house or in Fulwell Cross Library, so we are meeting this Sunday at 3pm in Worshipville Christian Centre, which is directly across the road from Becontree station on the District line (62 or 145 bus).
We know that baptism is a command of Jesus, is an example to all people and a testimony to yourself and to the world that Jesus is Lord, that we have died to our past and to sin and that we are alive to the Lord and to righteousness.
If you would like to come and share in this celebration of the new life Jesus brings, please come.
All are welcome! No matter your faith or lack of faith,
you are always welcome!
We have just had a great Sunday at church.
We had two first time visitors. One lady bumped into my wife on the street, came for coffee and stayed for church. She is from the DR Congo and is a lovely lady.
The other lady I have met before from the FGBMFI, and she came to the crusade.
It was lovely to have a few more people. I preached a sermon on Changing Your Thinking – the Power of the Imagination.
This sermon is pivotal if you need a release of the power of God in your life.
Enjoy!
Blessings,
Benjamin
Day Four…
We had 17 adults (give or take one or two either way – counting is difficult while preaching) and it was a glorious service. We had a lady who used to be in the youth group I led many years ago come and lead worship and it was absolutely beautiful.
The presence of the Lord filled the room, and people were getting touched by the Lord before I even opened my mouth.
I preached on the Holy Spirit and how important it is to know him as a person. Message is available here.
There was a Muslim gentleman turned up aged 85 looking for healing. He hobbled in and asked for prayer for his skin, I prayed for all of him and the pain left him completely. I am going to meet him for a coffee next week.
The Christians in the room responded well to the message and God’s goodness was evident. Many people said they had never heard the things I have said before.
Think – every night a non-Christian has heard the gospel, every night someone has been touched by God and every night people have been encouraged, blessed and inspired.
Now remember, the crusade is over but we are not. Every Thursday we are in the library, every Sunday in our house. Increase and increase, glory and blessing,
Glory and freedom,
Benjamin
We had 10 in attendance, not including Amanda and myself. (Also not including the 2 ladies running our creche – which was basically our children)
I preached a message on Jesus is our Jubilee, which can be accessed here.
We had a wonderful guy come along who was from the Bahai religion – he interrupted me when I said that Hinduism was a false religion that didn’t lead to God, and we had an interesting debate!
It has been a very variable attendance, and been a lot of fun. I am expecting that God has kept the best wine to last and expect to be writing a long testimony about tomorrow’s meeting.
God bless you all, each and every one!
Glory and Freedom,
Benjamin
Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;
The next wonderful thing Paul tells us about the gospel is that it is always about Jesus Christ, God’s Son. You cannot preach good news without it being totally centred on the person of Jesus Christ.
Some people take the principles of God – because God is a God of order He works by principles – and they teach you how to work them without the person of Jesus Christ.
This happens in the world, for example “The Secret” is simply the divine principle of what a man thinks in His heart, so is He; but completely divorced from the person of Christ. A Christian shouldn’t be reading the Secret because it is wrong, but because they should already know the principles from the Word of God – we don’t need the world to confirm the Word thank you!
But it happens in the church as well – messages that are 7 steps to healing. Healing isn’t a step – it is knowing the Healer. Prosperity isn’t a step – it is knowing the Prosperer.
There are principles, and there are Christians who are intimate with Jesus who don’t know the principles. The principles bring the prosperity and the power of God, but the person of God brings the presence of God.
We all know those elderly saints who bring the presence of God into the room, but they are as broke as a beggar and have ailment after ailment. Presence without power because they know Him but don’t know His Word.
However, we are in danger of a far worse condition: knowing the principles, working the power, and forgetting about Him in the middle of it.
In the midst of the Azusa Street revival, Frank Bartleman – a powerful apostle from the most influential revival ever to impact the world – said the greatest danger for the Pentecostal is to have a spiritual ministry that is not focussed on the person of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Ensure that everything you do, every increase you have is concerning the Lord Jesus Christ.
Glory and freedom,
Benjamin
No sermon sorry – that old wonder of technical difficulties!
Only 8 adults, mostly new people – all Christians. Then had one person come in off the street, he was sitting outside drinking and I invited him in, and I preached the gospel to him as if that was my intended message to all the Christians! He loved the message, and took my business card and a church card away with him.
We then prayed for him as a church and I preached on the free grace of God and how Christ has paid the complete price for all our sin and sickness and we can enjoy the righteousness of God. And also because it is free that we should welcome in people off the street no matter how different they seem.
I talked about respectable sins and disrespectable sins. Some slaves would be made to be cooks, treated well, almost as part of the family. Other slaves would be used as the family prostitute. One respectable, one disrespectable. Both slaves – both need redemption. Lazarus was dead and he stinketh – Jairus’ daughter was dead but could be mistaken for sleeping. You couldn’t mistake Lazarus for sleeping! Both needed resurrection.
Our sins might be “nice” ones or they might be “horrible” ones but we all need a Saviour so we should never be proud towards people who come who are obviously sinners and who stinketh and who are disrespectable because actually they need the same miracle we needed.
When I started to preach, the Lord said to me that the meeting was smaller but more significant and this is true because two ladies caught me at the end and want to join our church and our vision.
You know God didn’t say make crowds but make disciples, so I receive His Word that tonight has been more insignificant. The man who came in off the street said everyone made him feel so welcome even though he didn’t like large crowds (I know we are hardly a large crowd!!!)… afterwards I was discussing with my wife and every example I chose was relevant in his life, praise the Lord.
All in all a very positive night… tomorrow the Lord has told me the Holy Spirit is going to do special things. I cannot wait!
(Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,)
This verse here is speaking about the gospel or good news (happy news) that is mentioned in verse 1.
Paul is telling us two things about the good news:
1. It was promised before it happened
2. It is found in the Scriptures.
Point 1 is just remarkable – no other religion has a leader who fulfills prophetic word after prophetic word after prophetic word. We knew hundreds of years before Jesus was ever born that He would be born in Bethlehem, born in the lineage of David, born to a virgin, that He should grow in grace, heal the sick, be a light to the darkness, preach the good news, open blind eyes, preach liberty to the captives. We knew He would be nailed to a cross, with pierced hands and feet, surrounded by evildoers, buried by a wealthy man, and that He paid the price for our sin and our iniquities.
There are 333 prophetic words just about Jesus’ first coming in the Old Testament. Here are just a few for your study time:
His Birth
Old Testament Prophecy: Isaiah 7:14
Fullfillment in Jesus: Matthew 1:18,22,23
His Birthplace
Old Testament Prophecy: Micah 5:2
Fullfillment in Jesus: Luke 2:4,6,7
His Childhood in Egypt
Old Testament Prophecy: Hosea 11:1
Fullfillment in Jesus: Matthew 2:14-15
The Purpose for His Death
Old Testament Prophecy: Isaiah 53:4-6
Fullfillment in Jesus: 1 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 2:24
His Betrayal
Old Testament Prophecy: Zechariah 11:12-13; 13:6
Fullfillment in Jesus: Matthew 26:14-16; 27:3-10
His Crucifixion
Old Testament Prophecy: Psalm 22
Fullfillment in Jesus: Matthew 27
His Resurrection
Old Testament Prophecy: Psalm 16:9-10
Fullfillment in Jesus: Acts 2:31
(List from Campus Crusade for Christ)
If you think about it this proves beyond the shadow of a doubt to anyone with an open mind that Jesus is Lord and that God is real.
The second thing Paul tells us about the good news is that it is found in Scripture. Your source of power, your source of life is not found in the TV, not found in church, not found in prayer, not found in friends, not found in emotions, not found in the latest worship song, but found in the Scriptures.
If you want to be separated to the happy news and be a happy person spreading love, joy, healing and prosperity wherever you go: get in the Scriptures, that is where the news is found.
Glory and freedom,
Benjamin
Joy Becomes Mine The Moment I Pursue God’s Presence.
| ___________________________________________________
“You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Psalm 16:11 (NKJV) ___________________________________________________ |
What can be more satisfying or superbly fulfilling than setting aside time to be alone in God’s presence? Satan knows that if he can keep us from spending time with God, he can eventually starve us of spiritual strength. One of the greatest benefits we receive from the continual pursuit of God’s presence is true joy. This joy is a result of realizing God’s guiding and protecting hand on our lives. The Scripture tells us, “The joy of the Lord is your strength.” If Satan can keep us from spending time in God’s presence, joy will cease to exist, and our strength will be vanquished. Furthermore, the times we do not set aside for God become opportune times for Satan to attack. As we broaden our knowledge of the subtle tactics and deceptive schemes of Satan, I believe we will better understand how to combat them. The devil only needs to keep us from God’s presence long enough to diminish our strength so that he can take us to our knees in defeat. In ancient Israel, it was customary to plant a tree at a child’s joyous birth. At another moment of great joy (his or her wedding), branches from that very tree planted at his or her birth were used to support the marriage canopy. Joy is a wondrous gift from the right hand of God, and we must be serious about pursuing His presence. In His presence is where we belong. His presence is where we grow and where God’s Word comes alive within us. Similar to the branches used to uphold the canopy at the joyous Hebrew wedding ceremony, allow His presence to uphold you. This will cause that same joy to swell within you, empowering you to relentlessly defeat the enemy. |
